I have always been called a ‘busy body’ for as long as I can remember. Always into something! I can complete a project and then I am looking for the next thing to do, like, girl, CHILL. When you add having a demanding career, being a mom, and wife you start to look at things a little differently. You realize you can not do EVERYTHING, the simple word ‘NO’ becomes a good friend of yours, and you value rest and alone time so much more.
Intention
Regardless of the many hats that you wear, you are still YOU, and you are still evolving and becoming the woman you want to be! You already know you have the potential to become just that! But what happens when we let life just happen to us? We notice a year has passed by and we didn’t accomplish what was at the top of our priority list, or didn’t achieve the goal that was manifested at the start of the year.
How does this happen? We’ve all been there. Well, I can tell you from my own experience that this does not happen by accident. It happens from not taking action and making the daily decisions to live life on your own terms. It is a continuous journey to live intentionally. I make a decision every single day, and some days I fail, but I do try to make sure that whatever I am doing, that it is aligned with my why and my purpose in life.
Listed below are tips that help me live intentionally!
Morning Start
Firstly, I start my day by showing gratitude for the miracle of just waking up! Pray. Start by understanding that you come from abundance and you have all of the tools within you to conquer your day! I then always like to start my day with a smoothie and a good breakfast. Your morning start sets the tone for the rest of your day, create a routine and stick with it.
Plan Accordingly
The night or evening before going to bed, I put together a list of things I would like to accomplish the following day. I try not to over plan, I make a realistic list of things to do. Organize it based on importance (prioritize) and do the hardest thing/worst thing first.
For me, I’m not someone who LOVES to workout and idk if that will ever be me. What I DO love are the results, so you WILL catch me working out bright and early with a lot of self talk going on to get me there. After my workout, I plan for dinner. Then, I move down my to-do list accordingly.
Set Goals that Align with your Why
It is very important to understand exactly what you want out of life. By knowing the direction you are trying to go, you will then understand the actions necessary to get there. In turn, saying ‘no’ or ‘yes’ to something will always be in alignment with the bigger picture.
Start by looking at your goal for the month. Then break it down on how you can achieve that goal in 30 days by tackling it little by little every day or weekly. In my planner, I will work backwards from the 30th breaking down this goal until it is achievable in daily or weekly steps. You can do this same tactic for monthly, quarterly, or yearly goals.
Block Time
Make more time by doing absolutely ‘nothing.’ This is my favorite time of the day! Ha. For me this time comes at night, but your moments for ‘nothing’ can be whenever you put it in your schedule.
This is usually the time I set aside for myself after I put Eden down for bed. It may look different each night, but ultimately ask yourself these questions: How do I want to declutter my mind? How can I pause right now? Take a moment of reflection: how did today go?
Practice Self Care
This is so important, and it is rightfully so, one of the most used buzz words these days. Put yourself in your schedule, pen it in, set the date, and never neglect this time. What do you enjoy doing? What makes you feel good about yourself? Making time to feed your mind? Are you eating a balanced diet? Are you growing spiritually? Self care is an all encompassing practice.
Just remember self care is bigger than manis and pedis. This will look different for everyone. But understanding that you have to pay attention to the things that fuel you up, make you feel good and keep you going is a MUST!
Make Time for Relationships
Who are the most important people in your life? Make sure you think ahead about making time for them. For me, I make sure that I prioritize time for my husband. We try to make consistent date nights work, but this is an area we are trying to be more intentional about. Get creative and put each other’s needs as priority– plan it out.
We also have to have real life friends, and we have to make time to develop and grow these relationships as well. Schedule in dates, and plan ahead of time to meet up with friends even if it’s just once a month– its something! Stay present.

What are some things that you are doing to live more intentionally? Do you do any of these things? Please, do tell! xo

I do all of these things in my personal life! I’m currently looking to start using a daily planner because things can get overwhelming!
YESSS!! I could not live without my planner. I have used one since the 9th grade!! so helpful
Great post! Like you, I’m always looking for the next thing to accomplish. I perform better when I have something to work towards. I practice all of these, tho the last one needs some improvement.
Yes!! Same here, making time for relationships is something I am working on. After family, work and personal time.. friends are understanding, but it always gets put far down on the list!
Making time for relationships is my biggest priority in life. When I’m upward of 100 and on my death bed, it’s the people and the moments I had with them that I will remember. I don’t see myself going ‘ man, I should’ve worked more.'”
That is so true!! Its life’s experiences, impact and relationships with others that truly matter! xo
Yes to all of this. Some things won’t get done in life unless we are intentional about our planning.
Yes! Planning is key! Being mindful and putting action towards the things we want!
This is something that I haven’t done so much lately…writing things down. Blogging has helped with that, but I guess private journaling is still key. Thanks for this post.
I’m really loving all of these tips! I am currently trying to incorporate them into my daily routine, because I’m a busybody like you are!
These are great tips. I definitely need to pave out a good morning start into my life. I need to amp up my self-care , and I will be adding block time into the mix. Thanks for this!
I have been consistent with my planner and I see a difference. I have my goal in my face on a daily basis. Even better that I am hitting some already. Staying organized is key for me.
This was a really good post. I definitely need to work on planning and blocking time. I work diligently, but it’s not scheduled and planned. I need to set aside a set block of time and work on my passion. Thank you for this post. You got me together!
I’m already a huge fan of blocking my time but I’ll have to work on the other stuff. My mornings are always kind of a blur and I need to slow it down a bit.
That morning start will get everything you need in line. I realized with I started my mornings here, it was easy for me to identify priorities. Because of that, I wasn’t wasting so much time doing things that didn’t matter. Now I just have to stick to my routine. Thanks for this reminder. I am going to the gym in the morning.
Goals are everything and I write mine down and cross it off when accomplished. It’s usually random but this works well for my personal goals. Being in management I have tons of goals I have no choice but to accomplish. These I for sure work on daily. Thanks for the tips :* (PS, similar to you and workouts I am not a planner girl. I did it for 1 year and then quit lol)
I simply cannot make it through the day without a planner keeping me focused! Gotta make time for what matters to you – from your goals to those you love.
Block time is so useful. All of my favorite TV shows are repeats tonight so I’m going to block time updating my Twitter Party calendar.
These worksheets are awesome. I desperately need to block time.
Thank you! Happy you found them useful!
