Why does it seem like when they created maternity clothing, they never intended for you to leave the house with it? I mean, they were not thinking about that stylish mama-to-be that still wanted to be herself– just with a bump! I have found some sites that do a good job with maternity looks such as Asos Maternity, Naked Wardrobe, and Chic Bump Club I shop these sites for maternity looks when I know I have an event to go to. For the most part, I shop for looser fits, and stretchy dresses in a size up that I can easily wear postpartum. Its all about comfort, looking good, and not breaking the bank!
When you look good, you feel good, right?! Right… well, kind of because 3rd trimester is going to hit you hard regardless of how you look; pregnancy waddle and all! I have had so much fun styling my precious round bump! This second time around, it was like getting another chance at it. My first pregnancy I was balancing grad school, clinicals and full-time work! I literally did not have time for going out and being cute! lol. It has been such a blessing to get to enjoy this pregnancy, and not feel like I’m just caught up in the every day grind.

None of my featured looks are maternity wear, they are pieces that I already had in my closet, or an item that I purchased while keeping a growing bump in mind: elastic waist band pants, and loose fitting top.
Styling Tips
When it comes to the bump, I’m all about letting it shine in all of its glory. So, to me that means, no hiding it.
- I gravitate towards form fitted silhouettes, and then adding a long lightweight duster/ kimono/ jacket/ robe over it. It really flatters the bump!
- Monochromatic looks tend to be more flattering in pregnancy. It really elongates your shape, and still lets the bump shine.
- Jumpsuits and dresses are by far the easiest, and most flattering looks to throw on and go.
- Skirts have been so fun! Form fitted skirts with a crop top actually work! Just throw on a lightweight long duster/robe with it. Also, long flowing skirts that can button above the bump with a crop top are flattering as well (I don’t like to show skin here, so make sure your crop top is long enough)

I still wore heels throughout my pregnancy, this was just natural to me, because prior to pregnancy this was what I did. Comfort is a priority in pregnancy and during the 3rd trimester your feet, and ankles swell, so just do what works for you!

A growing bump does not mean you have to restrict yourself from your personal style. Its just a time to get creative and enjoy the journey to motherhood as you still SLAY and have fun!
