I am so excited to partner with Hair Are Us, and share my experience with you all. The brand originated here in Atlanta in 2011, and have since expanded to become an internationally known human hair extension brand. Since I love to switch things up and have options, I have to invest in quality hair. My favorite protective style these days is a custom unit, aka a wig made specific to my needs. After my postpartum shedding started in May, custom units allowed for me to switch up my look with minimal manipulation, and no tension to my natural hair.

I am blonde-ish!! I would never in a million years think of coloring my real hair blonde, so this allowed me to experiment and I LOVE it. This human hair is LIFE. I received the Indian hair texture and it made a perfect protective style.
Hair Are US
Not all hair weave is created equal. Purchasing human hair is truly an investment, and quality should be the number one priority. There are so many brands on the market, but what I love about this brand is that, the hair truly feels luxurious. I received 3 bundles of Indian Wavy Hair Textures lengths 22″, 20″, 18″, and one lace closure 16 inches. There was no odor to the hair, there is no shedding, and upon pulling the hair out the package, the first words that came to mind were ‘luscious.’
Shipping was fast, which we all love that. My package came with a pink satin bag which is great for travel. The hair comes in a natural deep brown color with a beautiful wave.
The GOOD:
- The Indian Hair Texture is superb, so silky, soft, and has a great luster
- There is no shedding, tangling, or matting
- It takes color very well, and holds the color
- Low maintenance
The BAD:
- The only thing I can say thus far, is that the lace on the closure was VERY delicate. It snagged a few times while my stylist was making the unit, but she was able to fix it.

My Favorite Protective Style: Custom Unit
WHY MY FAVORITE? Custom units are my go-to when I wear weaves. They allow me to give my natural hair a break as I care for the areas of hair loss, plus, I am just so busy these days, so a wig it is. So far, I’ve tried a bob, big curly hair, and now blonde. It gives me options. With human hair being an investment, custom units gives me great cost per use value. Furthermore, I also have a gym life without having to compromise my hair.
My custom unit was made by Jasmine Nikol Beauty. She makes all of my customs units, and she also said that this hair was great. She colored the hair and it took really well; it lifted without any difficulties. The only issue she had was with the lace closure, stating that the actual lace was fragile. To protect the lace, you have to be very gentle when handling, no excess plucking with tweezers or vigorous combing.

Postpartum Shedding
I am all too familiar with postpartum hair loss/shedding. I experienced it my first pregnancy, so I was mentally prepared in case it tried to come back. The shedding has finally stopped, it lasted from month 4 postpartum, to month 7. My edges are coming back in, and my hair is feeling fuller!
Things that have helped my postportum shedding:
- My custom unit. Having human hair that is a great quality allows for the units to last. I can just braid my hair down and leave it alone, while still being able to wash bi-weekly and moisturize daily.
- Jamaican black castor oil on my edges
- Taking my prenatal vitamins and Biotin
- Staying hydrated and eating a well balanced diet
Hair Are Us is offering my readers FREE SHIPPING with the code SHEI at checkout! Links to my closure and bundles. I definitely recommend this hair!

I have played with the idea of getting a lace front. I have never worn a sew-in or lace front in my life.
You look GREAT in this unit 🙂
Who knows…maybe I will give them a try….
Thank you! Girl, it’s like the ultimate protective style. Definitely try it out 🙂
